FAQs

  • How do I book a photography session with you?

To get started, simply fill out the contact form on my website. I'll reach out within 24 hours to go over the details of your session. Once we determine we're a good fit, I will send you a contract and request a retainer payment to secure your booking. Once the contract is signed and the retainer is paid, your session is officially booked!

    How much is the retainer?

For all photo shoots other than weddings, a 50% retainer of the total fee is required. To secure your wedding date, a $1,000 retainer is needed.

Why do you charge a retainer, and is it refundable?

The retainer fee is non-refundable because it reserves your spot on my schedule and ensures that I do not book other clients during that time. It covers my time, preparation, and resources dedicated to your session. While I understand that life happens, I am happy to work with you to reschedule if needed. However, the retainer itself is non-refundable as it has already been allocated to your session.

Can you clarify the starting prices in your pricing guide and why you don’t list exact prices?

Pricing varies because each session is unique. For example, a family session for three people will differ in cost from one with fifteen people. Location also affects pricing, as travel distances can influence the final amount. Sales tax may vary based on your location as well. The starting prices provide a baseline, but the final cost depends on these factors.

  • How do we choose a location for the shoot?

The location depends on your vision—options include parks, your home, an urban setting, or a rented studio. If you need suggestions, I can provide recommendations to help you decide.

What should I wear to my session?

Wear outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Avoid clothing that is unflattering to your body shape or features bold logos and patterns. Coordinating colors with the shoot location is also important. If you’re unsure, neutral tones such as white, beige, gray, cream, or taupe are always a safe choice. Feel free to consult with me for personalized outfit guidance.

Do I have to follow your wardrobe suggestions?

No, my recommendations are just that—recommendations. Ultimately, your outfit choice is up to you, and you should wear what best represents your style and vision.

What else can I do to prepare for a successful photoshoot?

Preparation is key to achieving great photos. Here are some tips:

    • Eat before the session to keep your energy up.

    • Ensure your clothing is neat and wrinkle-free.

    • Choose makeup that enhances your features, and consider a fresh hairstyle and manicure, as hands are often visible in photos.

    • Practice poses in front of a mirror to find your best angles.

    • Share any inspiration photos or specific poses you'd like to try with me in advance.

    • A great photoshoot happens with preparation and clear communication, and I’m always here to guide you!

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the weather isn't ideal for your session, we can work together to find a suitable time to reschedule.

  • How long does a photoshoot usually last?

I prefer longer sessions over rushed ones because it allows you to feel more comfortable in front of the camera. The first 20 minutes are often spent easing into the session. Family sessions may take longer due to the unpredictability of children. Generally, I set a one-hour limit for individual sessions and two hours for couples or families. However, if you prefer a shorter session, that’s completely fine. The length of the shoot does not affect pricing.

    Do you help with posing?

Yes! I tailor my approach based on your comfort level. If you’re confident in posing, I provide minimal guidance. If you need more direction, I have mood boards and reference poses to ensure we capture a variety of great shots.

Can I provide input or suggestions during the photoshoot?

Absolutely! I encourage input and will do my best to incorporate your ideas. However, I ask that you trust my creative expertise, as you’ve chosen me for my artistic style. I aim to balance your preferences with my professional vision.

What sets your photography approach apart?

I take the time to ask about your "working side" and any features you feel self-conscious about so I can tailor the shoot to your preferences. Throughout the session, I show you previews and get your feedback to ensure you love the results.

  • How would you describe your photography style?

I focus on capturing real, authentic emotions through intimate close-ups and heartfelt moments. My editing style is warm and nostalgic, often incorporating a subtle film-like grain. I also use black-and-white photography to enhance emotional impact. My goal is to create timeless, genuine images that reflect deep connections.

How do you edit your images, and what is included in the standard package?

I provide basic editing, including color correction and cropping. Advanced edits such as retouching, body shaping, or object removal are available for an additional fee, as they require extra time and effort.

Do I get to choose which photos are edited?

No, I curate the final selection for the best results. I provide a generous number of images to ensure variety, and my experience allows me to choose the strongest shots. Throughout the session, I show previews and welcome feedback to ensure the final selection aligns with your preferences.

What are the best times to take photos?

The best times for natural light photography are during sunrise, golden hour, and overcast days. These conditions provide soft, flattering light that enhances the quality of your photos.

What are the least ideal times for photos?

Midday on bright, sunny days can create harsh shadows and high contrast, making it more challenging to achieve soft, natural-looking images. However, I can adjust my approach to work with any lighting situation.

  • How do you deliver images?

I use Pic-Time, an online gallery platform that allows you to securely view, download, and even order prints or albums directly.

Do you deliver RAW or unedited photos?

No, I do not provide RAW images, as they are an incomplete representation of my work. Just like a film is edited before release, my editing process is an essential part of my artistic style. I only deliver high-quality, fully edited images.

    What’s the turnaround time?

For non-wedding sessions, images are delivered within two weeks. Wedding galleries take up to eight weeks due to the larger volume of images.

What if I need my photos faster?

Rush editing is available for an additional fee if you need your photos sooner than the standard delivery time.
